Billie Rogers Whelchel, 86, of Clermont passed away Sept. 3, 2006, at a private nursing home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Whelchel was a lifelong resident of Hall County and a member of Concord Baptist Church. She was the retired office manager of Big Star for many years. Mrs. Whelchel was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Whelchel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, in Strickland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Douglas Collins will officiate.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Nikki and Jack Campbell, and Marcia and Gordon Black, Clermont; sisters, Leona Haynes, Gainesville, and Kate Haynes, Gainesville, Jeffie Adkins, Kansas City, Kan.; grandsons and wives, Russell and Lesa Thomas, Tennessee, Eric and Tracy Thomas, Clermont, and Joel and Sarah Campbell, North Carolina; granddaughters and husbands, Jamie and Bart Buffington, Gainesville, Mandy and Kacy Cronan, Clermont, and Jessica Campbell, Clermont; and nine great-grandchildren.
