John H. "Johnny" Crawford

March 4, 1927-Dec. 26, 2006

John H. "Johnny" Crawford, 79, of Jefferson died Tuesday at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born to the late Annie Adams Crawford and Pet Crawford, he was a Word War II veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired detective for the Athens Police Department and a member of River of Life Worship Center.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Dowdy Crawford, Jefferson; son, David Crawford, Nicholson; stepson, Frankie Bray, Jefferson; daughters, Debra Kesler and Sherry Allen, both of Nicholson; stepdaughters, Pam Adams, Commerce, and Debbie Lance, Jefferson; brothers, Vernon Crawford and Bobby Crawford, both of Nicholson; sisters, Beatrice Edwards, Watkinsville, and Lucille Brunet, Beaumont, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Kesler will officiate. Burial will be in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.

Virginia Alley "Jinx" Doyle

Died Dec. 23, 2006

Virginia Alley "Jinx" Doyle, 86, of Cumming died Saturday.

Born in Cincinnati, she attended Rockland Community College as well as Columbia University. She was a public health nurse and worked with the Visiting Nurses of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick; and brothers, John Alley and Richard Alley.

Survivors include her daughters, Denise Smith and Jeannine Doyle, both of Cumming; brothers, James Alley, Conyers, and Raleigh Alley, Merritt Island, Fla.; sister, Charlene Beier, Cincinnati; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Good Shepherd Church, Cumming. Burial will be at Sawnee View Gardens.

Charlotte Kaplan Siegelman Schiff

Died Dec. 24, 2006

Charlotte Kaplan Siegelman Schiff, 81, of Lawrenceville, formerly of Lakewood, N.J., died Sunday.

Born to the late Gertrude and Benjamin Kaplan, she was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from Bambergers Department stores in Newark, N.J., and was of the Jewish faith. She also was preceded in death by her husbands, Sander Siegelman and David Schiff; brother, Herman Kaplan; and sister, Carol Kaplan White.

Survivors include her daughters, Debra Gerlach, Lawrenceville, and Amy J. Siegelman, Lakewood, N.J.; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton. Rabbi Scott Saulson will officiate.

Maria Mainiero Schiveree, 76, of Buford died Wednesday.

Born in Nutley, N.J., she was a homemaker, graduate of Jacksonville University and member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Flowery Branch.

Survivors include her husband, John J. Schiveree, Buford; sister, Marilyn Mainiero Trayner, Toms River, N.J.; brother, Nicholas Mainiero, Nutley, N.J.; daughters, Susanne Schiveree Gleaton and Jennifer Schiveree Farmer, both of Atlanta, and Julia Schiveree Boren, Roswell; son, John E. Schiveree, Lawrenceville; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Flowery Branch. The Rev. Fred Wendel will officiate. Burial will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford.

Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Johnny William Wright Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Smallwood Wright, Maysville; daughters, Courtney Wright and Hailey Wright, both of Maysville; mother, Patricia Pressley Snead; stepfather, Phillip Snead, Maysville; brothers, Calvin Wright, Jefferson, and Andy Lee Wright, Maysville; sister, Darlene Bland, Jefferson.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Peterson and the Rev. Chad Rising will officiate. Burial will follow in Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
