Ovalene "Peggy" Burton

Died Jan. 8, 2007

Ovalene "Peggy" Burton, 72, of Cumming died Monday at her residence following a sudden illness.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bo Burton.

Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Burton, Cumming; daughter, Sharon Cornetet, Florida; son, Phil Burton, Cumming; numerous brothers and sisters; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. John Waters will officiate. Burial will be in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens, Cumming.

Died Jan. 9, 2007

Robert M. Estes, 59, of Gainesville died Tuesday.

George Jones

Feb. 10, 1924-Jan. 8, 2007

George Jones, 82, of Cleveland died Monday at Toccoa Nursing Center following an extended illness.

Born in Gordon County to the late Melvin and Pearl Hamrick Jones, he was a member of Mount Vernon Fire Baptized Holiness Church. He also was preceded in death by his sons, Jasper Jones and Gene W. Jones; sister, Annie Ruth Jones; and brother, Arvil Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Wade Jones, Cleveland; son, Jerry L. Jones, Chatsworth; daughters, Anna Mae Roberts, Ten Mile, Tenn., Patricia Con, Tunnel Hill, and Lena Ann Graham, Chatsworth; sister, Willie Mae Sluder, Chatsworth; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, in the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Taylor and the Rev. Lester Haynes will officiate. Burial will be at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Flynn will officiate at graveside.

Died Jan. 7, 2007

Gracie Wheeler Posey, 94, of Cumming died Sunday.

Survivors include his daughters, Jo-Ann Posey Gibson, Cumming, and Grace Posey Adkins, Atlanta; sons, Freddie Posey, Marham, Ill., and the Rev. Jerome Posey, Atlanta; brother, Willie Wheeler, Baton Rouge, La.; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Sweet Olive Cemetery, Baton Rouge, La.

Willie Thomas Stephens of Gainesville died Friday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

He was born in Gainesville.

Survivors include his children, Frances Jones, Hartford, Conn., Elsie Strong, Columbus, Michael Stephens, Palmdale, Calif., Anthony Stephens, Deborah Woods, Rachael Graves and Rosha Stephens, all of Los Angeles, Jeammie Stephens, Rialto, Calif., and Kenneth Stephens, Shreveport, La.

Memorial services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in the chapel of Greenlee's Funeral Home.

Wayne Sutton

Died Jan. 9, 2007

Wayne Sutton, 64, of Buford died Tuesday.

Born to the late James and Lois Anne Sutton, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Sutton.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; daughters, Kelly Lynn, North Carolina, and Jody Parker, Cleveland; brother, Mark Sutton, North Carolina; sister, Sue Ann Mason, California; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, in the chapel of Tapp/Tim Stewart Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Quinn will officiate.
