Leonard Gibbs

Feb. 24, 1928-Jan. 26, 2007

Leonard Gibbs, 78, of Cleveland died Friday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center's Lanier Park campus.

Born in Hall County to the late Levi and Effie Gibbs, he was in the U.S. Army and was a Baptist minister and a brick mason. He also was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Gibbs.

Survivors include wife, Bertie Mae Gibbs, Cleveland; daughters, Terri Crumley, Cleveland, Christy Freeman, Cleveland, Sheila Davis, Talmo, Cathy Gibbs, Gainesville, Cheryl Dorsey, Cornelia; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at County Line Baptist Church.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at County Line Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Freeman will officiate.

Dorothy Marie Swanagon Karlish

Died Jan. 25, 2007

Dorothy Marie Swanagon Karlish, 80, of Woodstock died Thursday.

She was a member of Bethelview United Methodist Church where she was a member of the church choir and Goldenrods. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Karlish.

Survivors include sons, Terry Karlish, Kennesaw, David Karlish, Pagosa Springs, Colo.; daughter, Polly Ashcraft, Woodstock; sister, Mildred Bushnell, Florissant, Mo.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Bethelview United Methodist Church. The Rev. Deborah Griffith and Judge Ben Abney will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethelview United Methodist Church.

Annie Mae Dodd King

Annie Mae Dodd King, 85, of Cornelia died Friday at a private healthcare facility following an extended illness.

Born in Jackson County to the late Finley S. and Mammie Patrick Dodd, she was a homemaker and member of Cornelia United Methodist Church. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Crawford Franklin King; and sisters, Jacqueline Alverson and Grace Love.

Survivors include sons, Melvin King, Cornelia, and Randy F. King, Clarkesville; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family is at the residence of the son, Melvin King; 697 Highland Avenue, Cornelia, GA 30531.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart. The Rev. Jack Summers will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Leavitt King Merrill Jr.

Died Jan. 26, 2007

Leavitt King Merrill Jr., 65, of Cumming died Friday at his residence.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army Reserve and a member of Saint Benedict's Catholic Church, Duluth.

Survivors include wife, Kathryn Merrill, Cumming; daughter, Rebecca Neil, Islip, N.Y.; son, Andrew Merrill, Boston, Mass.; daughter, Mary Kathleen Merrill, Cumming; brother, Fred Merrill, Connecticut; sister, Mari Lou Hobbs, Idaho; and one grandchild.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.

Kathleen Moore

Kathleen Moore, 83, of Atlanta died Friday at Banks-Jackson-Commerce Medical Center.

Born in Wilkinson County, Miss., to the late Malva Bankston Cavin and Earl Cavin, she was a homemaker and a member of Living Word Ministry.

Survivors include husband, Milton E. Moore, Atlanta; son, Don Moore, Commerce; daughter, Candy Moore, Atlanta; brother, Dr. Elwyn Cavin, Lake Charles, La.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home. The Rev. John Wood will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.

Willie B. Tomlin

Willie B. Tomlin, 79, of Hartwell, formerly of Cleveland, died Friday at Hart County Hospital following an extended illness.

Born in White County to the late Owen Efford Tomlin and Martha Jane Foster Tomlin, he was a self-employed carpenter and of the Baptist faith. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Louise Martin Tomlin; brothers, Thomas Loffett and Bobby Tomlin; and sister, Kay Von Howington.

Survivors include sons, Mike Tomlin and Mark Tomlin, both of Hartwell; daughters, Patsy T. Black, Elberton, Paula T. Pilgrim, Royston; sisters, Thelma Helton, Cleveland, Corrella Price, Flowery Branch, Omogene Humphries, Dawsonville, Brenda Martin, Gainesville; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, and from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, in the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland. The Rev. W.A. Jenkins will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Blvd., Suit 10, Atlanta, GA 30345-3315.
