Helen W. Hendrix

Ms. Helen W. Hendrix, 75, of Gainesville departed this life on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, following an extended illness.

She was born on Oct. 21, 1931, in Gainesville to the late Mr. Homer Hendrix and Mrs. Leah Ann Walker Hendrix. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Mr. Derrick A. Hendrix; and cousin, raised as a brother, Mr. Arthur Henry Jones Sr.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Leah Annette (Floyd) Teasley and Mrs. Angela Paulette (Ricky) Owens, Gainesville; five sons, Mr. Eugene Hendrix, retired U.S. Army, Gainesville, Mr. Douglas Hendrix, Atlanta, Mr. James Edward (Vanessa) Hendrix Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo., Mr. Charles A. Hendrix Sr., retired U.S. Army, and Mr. Michael L. Hendrix, Athens; cousin, raised as a sister, Mrs. Lois (Joe) Thomas, Camden, N.J.; seven granddaughters, Melanie A. Hendrix, Ruth Hendrix, Stacia L. Hendrix, LaToya T. Owens, Alesia D. Hendrix, Jazman A. Owens and Tytiana A. Teasley; five grandsons, Lamont T. Hendrix, Charles (Chuck) A. Hendrix Jr., James (Jimmy) E. Hendrix Jr., Brandon P. Hendrix and Adarius K. Hendrix; and eight great-grandchildren. Extended family, Mae Frances (Laura) Smith, DJ Sapp, Michael Sapp and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Young's Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at First Baptist Church, 1810 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Gainesville, GA. The Rev. Isaac Whitehead Jr., pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Greater Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Athens Highway.
