Rex Walter Allen, 49, of Demorest died Friday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Layton V. "Vic" Carson

Died July 23, 2007

Layton V. "Vic" Carson, 79, of Atlanta died Monday.

He served during World War II, graduated from Georgia Military Academy and Georgia Tech and was an amateur radio operator.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta.

Addie Newsome Caudell

March 6, 1916-July 26, 2007

Addie Newsome Caudell, 91, of Homer died Thursday at a private care facility.

Born in Banks County to the late George and Martha Broome Newsome, she was a homemaker and a member of Damascus Baptist Church. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke Caudell Sr.; daughter, Betty Jo Caudell; and sons, Everage Caudell, Theodore George Caudell and Ulysess Caudell.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Caudell and Evelyn Willoughby, both of Homer, and Catherine Boone, Atlanta; sons, Hoke Caudell Jr., Homer, Harry Caudell, Mount Airy, and Douglas Caudell, Toccoa; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Damascus Baptist Church. The Rev. Roy Rogers and the Rev. Jewell Gaines will officiate. Burial will be in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.

Kenneth "Kenney" M. Hunter

March 15, 1959-July 26, 2007

Kenneth "Kenney" M. Hunter, 48, of Buford died Thursday.

Born in Buford to the late Richard Hunter and Patricia Ryder Christopher, he attended North Gwinnett High School, was retired from General Motors Assembly Plant, Doraville and was of the Baptist faith. He also was preceded in death by his son, Blake Hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Martin Hunter, Buford; sons, Richard Lee Hunter and John Miles Hunter, both of Buford; sister, Debbie Hunter, Buford; and one granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007, in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sugar Hill Cemetery.

Gilbert Myrick Jr.

Oct. 29, 1921-July 26, 2007

Gilbert Myrick Jr., 85, of Buford died Thursday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born in Paris, Tenn., to the late Gilbert and Beulah Myrick, he retired from W.R. Grace Co. He also was preceded in death by his brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gober Myrick, Gainesville; daughters, Janice Chadwick, Blufton, N.C., and Kathy McKinzey, Lilburn; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the gravside service.

Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Alta Vista Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Newbern will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
