Ann S. Burrell

Ann S. Burrell, 81, of Cornelia died Wednesday at her residence.

Born in Cook County, Ill., to the late Louis and Henrietta Hoberg Sanders, she was retired from Mount Vernon Mills and was a member of Demorest Baptist Church. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Obra J. Burrell.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Bramlett, Cornelia; son, David Burrell, Mount Airy; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest. The Rev. Brian James and Dr. Tom Mewborn will officiate. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Demorest Baptist Church, or Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

John Christman, 66, of Buford died Wednesday following an extended illness.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Tricia Christman; and daughter, Kellyann Christman, Buford.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, in the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home. Father Fred Wendel will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery.

Marvin P. Cowart, 83, of Clarkesville, formerly of Norcross, died Tuesday at Oak Ridge Nursing Home.

Born to the late Harley Allen and Iona Grant Cowart, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II, retired from Rexall Drug Company and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughters, Connie Hammond, Clarkesville, and Sheila Roberts, Sugar Hill; brother, Don Cowart, Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, in the chapel of Mason & Ward Funeral Home. The Rev. John Reeser will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery, DeKalb County.

Mary Julia Harvill Ferguson

Mary Julia Harvill Ferguson, 76, of Buford died Saturday at Lanier Park Hospital.

Born in Habersham County to the late William and Julia Lennard Harvill, she graduated from North Georgia College and was a bacteriologist with Georgia State Health Department.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Ferguson Coy, Buford; son, Frank Ferguson, Signal Mountain, Tenn.; sister, Margaret Allen, Lawrenceville; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon until the funeral Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest. The Rev. Garvis Kinsey will officiate. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Joseph "Joey" F. Gearin Jr., 46, of Sugar Hill died Tuesday.

Born in Hall County to the late Joe and Opal Wehunt Gearin, he attended North Hall High School, was a disable truck driver and attended Safe Harbor Church, Cumming.

Survivors include his wife, Leisha Deaton Gearin, Sugar Hill; daughters, Amie Gearin, Sugar Hill, and Kayla Gearin Griggs, Buford; sister, Cheryl Dills, Cumming; and one granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. The Rev. Barney Jones, the Rev. Tim Bennett, the Rev. Phillip Wehunt and the Rev. Shane Wehunt will officiate. Burial will be in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens, Cumming.

Frederick Mason Jones, 51, of Commerce died Saturday at his residence.

Born in South Carolina to Thomas Jones and the late Sara Wills Julian, he was a wrecker driver.

In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Patty Kennedy Jones, Commerce; sons, Joe Adams, Clearwater, Fla., and Robert Hammond, Commerce; daughter, Kirstin Jones, Commerce; and sisters, Cindy Clements, Virginia, Lee Gettys, Greenville, S.C., Jan Everett, Clermont, and Julie Jones, Atlanta.

Funeral services are scheduled for noon Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at the deceased's residence.

The remains were cremated.

Born in Syracuse, N.Y., to the late Albert and Harriett Case Matzel, he was an electrician and was employed with Home Depot, Dahlonega.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Rogers Matzel, Cleveland; daughters, Becky Matzel and Michelle Burke, both of Cleveland; brothers, Bill Matzel, Chittenango, N.Y., and Peter Matzel, Perryville, N.Y.; and sisters, Marilyn Craw, Chittenango, N.Y., Beth Sterritt, Fabius, N.Y., Marie Matzel, Frederick, Colo., and Margie Wilson, Sautee.
